President, Mountain Goat Books; Independent Consultant

Primary industry: Digital Health | Secondary industry: Consulting

I advise startups as an independent consultant and through the Innovate Calgary Expert Advisor program and Platform Calgary. My clients have included young companies in digital health and education, data-driven research, and AI storytelling.

My passion lies in helping founders at the intersection of startup strategy and narrative – crystallizing a big idea into a clear vision, then translating that vision into compelling pitch decks, business plans, non-dilutive grants, shareholder communications, and employee purpose. Put another way, I help founders tell true stories that raise money and keep their team focused on the big goal. Because of my diverse background (more below), I also frequently help companies to evaluate major contracts, build financial projection models, and devise early go-to-market plans.

From 2020-2025, I was President & CEO of Deep Surface AI, which I co-founded, and which innovated 3D simulation software for pre-op facial plastic surgery patient consultations. As a postdoctoral fellow at the Cumming School of Medicine (U Calgary) from 2017-2020, I built and applied multivariate statistical models to answer biomedical research questions related to human growth and development. Prior to these STEM-focused roles, I worked as attorney and an investment banker in the United States, representing clients in corporate transactions (venture capital, M&A, JV, IPO) and health care law. Currently, I’m the founder of a new bookstore, scheduled to open at the Calgary Farmer’s Market West retail district in August 2026. I’m also an Innovate Calgary Life Sciences Fellowship alumnus and have won a national writing award.
